The Costly Craft of Paying Attention, Pt. 2

by Matthew Clark | One Thousand Words

Unfortunately, there’s no text for this week’s podcast! This was a talk I gave back in 2016, and I have no idea where the notes are anymore. :)

    the poet posits
    we know ourselves not
    until caught
    in the loving gaze of
    Another, Author
    of holy hospitality
    Creator of infinite space
    inward yeses resound
as words wind winsome through the mind
drop a line deep into the fragile and shy
    (he says) heart
connect and connect and come round to
    connect again
    reaching into unplumbed depths of
    self-knowledge and lostness and
    adolescent questions that persist
    even into old age because
    in glory to glory reflection
    in infinity of patience
    imago dei
    never comes to an end
