Trying to get my heart back
by Matthew Clark
I went down into the cedar brake
Down to where the earthquake
Shook up all the old ways
I used to use to navigate
I went looking for a sign of life
Somewhere past the edge of night
Digging through the trash cans
Trying to find a long lost friend
CHORUS
Trying to get my heart back
Cause you can’t give away
Something you do not have
Trying to get my heart back
Now I woke up to the silver moon
Thin enough to squeeze through
Sneak in past the black dogs
Climb into my bedroom
Write upon the dark walls
Something like a love song
It is beating on my windows
So I’m thinking I should hold on
